Azim Suyun (1948-2020)

Azim Suyun (Azimboy Alimovich Suyunov) was born in Nakurt village of Samarkand region in 1948. In 1977 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Tashkent State University. He is a deputy of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. After having served in the army he worked at city construction. Then he worked as a correspondent in the newspaper “Tashkent Universiteti”.

Besides, he worked as an editor in the publishing house literature and art named of Gafur Gulom. At the State Commitee of Press of the Republic of Uzbekistan he served as an editor-in-chief of the newspapers “Golos Uzbekistana”, “O’zbekiston ovozi”.

The collection of poems and books by Azim Suyun are published in Turkish, English, Arabian, Russian, Kazak, Tadjik, Kirgiz, Turkmen, Karakalpak, Tuva and other languages.

The tragedy “Sarbadorlar”, eposes “Zamin taqdiri”, “Uzbekiston”, “Bir tomchi suv dengizga aylangan kecha va yoki imorat” by Azim Suyun are popular.

Azim Suyun is also famous as a playwriter and a journalist.
